The Poetry Competition is now closed to entries. Winners will be informed by the end of September, and the results will be publicly announced on 5 November. Order the competition anthology.
Founded by Ted Hughes and now in its 30th year, The Arvon International Poetry Competition is one of the UK's most prestigious open poetry prizes. The first prize of £7,500 is one of the largest available for a single poem. The competition is truly international, welcoming entries from around the world.
You can find out more about the prizes and the judges who will award them; read about the history of the competition; meet some previous winners, and pre-order a copy of the competition anthology.
If you'd like the chance to write more poetry, there are still places available on several of Arvon's poetry courses this year. You could spent a week writing with a great poet like Ian Duhig, Matt Harvey or Nii Ayikwei Parkes.
The Arvon Foundation is extremely grateful to John and Susan Singer, and an anonymous donor, for their generous support of the 2010 Poetry Competition.
